Lina Johansson Circus Choreographer in exciting collaboration for L’Orfoe this winter – Paid Assistant Artist post available to join the collaboration

orfeo I am working on an exciting collaboration this autumn – Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo – A Royal Opera and Roundhouse Co-production in association with East London Dance. I will work as Circus Choreographer together with Movement Director Liz Rankin, (formerly of DV8), to train and choreograph a group of young people alongside the professional opera singers for the gripping story of Orpheo (the Greek demi-god who went to hell to claim back his beloved from death, but then lost her as he couldn’t resist looking back..) – all under the direction of Michael Boyd (former Artistic Director for Royal Shakespeare Company). I worked with Michael and Liz 2 years ago for RSC’s production of Boris Gudinov and for me it is a continued exciting meeting point between script, movement and circus skills – complementing and supporting each other in search for clear and visually thrilling storytelling. And this time we will have opera thrown in as well – all to be performed at the amazing main theatre at the Roundhouse this winter! In connection with this there is a post for a Assistant Artist to support me and Liz and work with the full artistic team through the creation. It is a paid opportunity and I think a brilliant opportunity for a dance or circus artist looking to take the next step with their career and who is as interested as us in the fusion of art forms. Full details of the commitments and how to apply can be found here: http://eastlondondance.org/opportunities/orfeo-new-production/
