24 Oct An ode to the Mimbre Mobile
A final goodbye to our beloved blue Mimbre van! Yes, she was old, yes, she was uncomfortable, yes she was not sustainable for the environment anymore, but she lasted us for 21 years and took us on tour across most of Europe with many returns drives to France, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Denmark, Portugal, Sweden, Poland… So many performances were brought to hundreds of thousands of audiences (we’re not exaggerating), many deep chats were had on the long roads, many unhealthy snacks were eaten and enjoyed, lots of variable music was listened to and many butts were uncomfortable, but she carried us through rain or shine and whoever recommended us to get a Mercedes Sprinter was right, she was a reliable work horse for over two decades of touring! She even turned into a food bank van during the pandemic helping to collect several tons of donations!
Thanks Arts Council England for the grant in 2003 that enabled us to buy her and thanks to London ULEZ scheme that supported us to scrap her with dignity.
The Mimbre mobile is now dead, long live the Mimbre mobile!
