Happy Holidays from Mimbre

Happy Holidays from Mimbre

Look at these three Mimbre Youth Christmas elves bringing acrobatic magic this festive season!

As we come to the end of 2025 we’re reflecting on all we have achieved this year.

As one of the UK’s leading outdoor touring companies we continued to smash gendered expectations with our production of Weight(less) which toured across the UK and to Sweden, Germany and Spain. Huge thanks to our cast for 2025: Anesta Mathurin, Martha Harrison and Mimbre Artistic Director Silvia Fratelli; to Claire Ducreux and Gabbie Cook who helped this year to make it into the beautiful show it is; as well as Mike Corr for his expert acrobatic coaching throughout the year.

Weight(less) will be touring again in 2026 – look out in the new year for an announcement of a new cast and exciting touring destinations, and of course get in touch to book it for your festival.

Mimbre didn’t just tour in 2025, we were part of a number of powerful external projects including outgoing Artistic Director Lina Johansson working on Bradford 2025’s RISE, and Lina and Executive Director Lissy Lovett supporting the extraordinary artist Maiya Leeke with her research in contemporary dance, aerial suspension and the mechanics of her wheelchair. We’ll be sharing more about Maiya’s She dreams. She flies. next year.

We’ve trained with some of the best female and non-binary acrobats in the country including holding our own Acrolab residency with 101 Outdoor Arts and teaching at the London Acro Convention.

There have been some important changes to the working of the company too – we’re saying goodbye to Lina after her extraordinary 26 years with the company, and we trialled an Associate Director scheme with a fantastic cohort of artists who took part in our Pilot – massive thanks to Rebecca Solomon, Natasha Khamjani, Maiya Leeke, Martha Harrison, Arielle Lauzon and Lucie Maisha N’Duhirahe.

We’ll be announcing our new Associate Directors for 2026 in the coming weeks and we can’t wait.

The participants of Mimbre Youth continue to inspire us. We’ve been on some great trips supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation and we’ve welcomed new Youth Programme Manager Carys Williams to the team working alongside streetdance teacher Natasha Khamjani. Our fun day in March and the sessions we’ve taught at the SWAPA adventure playground have been highlights.

We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us this year – our terrific board of trustees, Arts Council England, National Lottery Community Fund, Jack Petchey Foundation, Arnold Clark Community Fund, Foyle Foundation, Wayne Walters and all our generous donors.

Merry Christmas from Silvia, Lina, Lissy and Carys
