Looking back at 2017

Looking back at 2017

On behalf of everyone at Mimbre, we wish all our company friends a beautiful holiday season and a wonderful new year. Here’s to a break filled with warmth, comfort and good cheer!

We’ve been lucky to have an exciting year filled with amazing projects and fantastic collaborators. Scroll down to find out more about them and our upcoming projects for 2018.

See you in the new year!

All our love,

Silvia, Lina, Lissy, Jana

We are extremely pleased to have been invited to join Arts Council England again as a National Portfolio Organisation for 2018 – 2022. We look forward to continuing our contribution to the excellence of the arts in England in the coming years.

A big shout out to all the fantastic performers and artists we work with who make Mimbre what we are. And a bigger shout out to our lovely and loyal audiences! Thank you everyone.  <3

Mimbre toured If I could I would again in the UK and Europe to a great response from audiences. We even won the AUDIENCE AWARD at Holzminden Festival in Germany!
We are so incredibly honoured and thank the lovely German team and audience for their support. Thank you! You can see more photos here and a short video here.
Crowd favourite, Wondrous Strange, our RSC commissioned show went on the road to Gdansk this year. You can see more images from the show and a video here.
Lina was invited by Improbable to work as movement director on ENO’s Aida this autumn. We enlisted ten wonderful female acrobats, including our very own Joint Artistic Director Silvia Fratelli and associate performers Alcina Mendez, Alison Halstead and Martha Harrison to perform in the production.
This festive season we call on you again to help us make sure that everyone, no matter of background, can participate in our brilliant acrobatics and street dance programme in Hackney.
Please donate or share our JustGiving campaign. Your help will go towards offering bursaries and subsiding places for young people in our programme.  Thank you!

We would like to thank Metropolitan Housing, D’Oyly Carte Foundation, the John Thaw Foundation, Charles S French Foundation, the London Borough of Hackney, individual donors and parents for their generous support in keeping our youth programme strong and flying!

We will be running our classes in the spring again at Milton Gardens Community Hall starting Tuesday 9th January. Please follow the link for all the info and make sure to email Jana on education@mimbre.co.uk to register!

New show for 2018

We have been awarded a Strategic Touring Grant by the Arts Council and a grant by the Foyle Foundation to develop our audience engagement work in 2018 through our newest show:The Exploded Circus.

The Exploded Circus is an all-female contemporary circus production that uses the scene of a devastated circus and its performers as an allegory to explore themes around drastic change, belonging and hope. The show is being produced for 2018 to coincide with the 250th anniversary of circus. It will premiere on 18th May 2018 at Worthing Theatres and will be available to tour after that.

Stay tuned for further touring dates!

Mimbre office will be closed from 21 December until the 3rd January.
