17 Oct Summer 2014 – What a year!
We’ve had such a great summer at Mimbre! Here are some of our highlights.

At the start of the summer we were offered continued support by the Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation. We are incredibly proud to have been selected amongst numerous brilliant organisations. We’ve got bigger and greater plans for the coming years but as we move towards the end of the year we wanted to share with you some of the highlights of 2014.
Our summer tour started in May with our new show Bench, and since then we have toured 24 festivals in 12 different cities. Check out our tour schedule to find out more. We would not have had such a great time on tour, if it were not for the lovely audiences so thank you everyone for getting involved.

Until Now was also on the road for the 5th year. We enjoyed playing with the format to create a series of vignettes from the show for the lovely cycling festival at Limburg – knowing the show so well means we also have a chance to have some fun!
Our youth company also caught the touring bug again this year and performed along side our artists in Watching the World Go By at National Theatre’s Watch this Space, Dalston Square, and at our very own festival Mimbre Circus Central. They even branched out on their own and took the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park by storm at the Great British Carnival, with their own acrobatic mini show, and a killer Samba routine.
Meanwhile Lina went off to direct some other young acrobats in Mergence: a stunning ensemble show at the National Centre for Circus Arts.

We also started developing our new show Time. We’ve been working with the amazing Eva Auster and a group of wonderful acrobats, including our own Silvia Fratelli, to develop ideas for the production in association with Hackney Live and 101.

The fabulous conclusion of the summer was our own street circus festival, Mimbre Circus Central. We had a great selection of performers, including Mrs H and The Sing Along Band, That Juggler, Folk Dance Remixed, some great up and coming performers from The National Centre for Circus Arts, our youth company, and of course Mimbre’s touring company with Bench! A big thank you to London Borough of Hackney for supporting the event again.
