23 Jan Welcome Rebecca Solomon, new Associate Director and Weight(less) cast 2026!
To complete our Weight(less) cast for 2026, along with Julia Chan and Silvia Fratelli we have Rebecca Solomon.
And not content just with that, Rebecca will also be one of Mimbre’s new Associate Directors!
Rebecca is an award-winning choreographer, theatre maker-director and circus artist. Starting as a dancer specialising in authentic jazz era dance such as Lindy-Hop and Charleston, she won competitions throughout the UK and Europe.
She shifted her practice towards circus in 2018 and began her circus career with performances in Hive City Legacy (2018), Fierce Sisters (2018) and Splash! (2019). She has toured nationally and internationally and worked with many of the UK biggest contemporary circus companies, including Upswing, Jacksons Lane, Extraordinary Bodies and The Revel Pucks Circus.
In addition to her performing credits, since 2021 Rebecca has been forging her career as a director. First with her semi-autobiographical show Second-Hand Child (2021), then as a director in Sheffield’s 2023 Bank Cohort. She has been an assistant director for We Could All Be Perfect (2023), Is Dat U Yh? (2024) and By Their Fruits (2024) for which she was nominated for best choreography at the Off West End Awards. She has gone on to be Associate Director/Circus Director of the UK premier Andre Campra’s Opera, Le Carneval de Venise (2025), staged by Vache Baroque.
She is currently Associate Director at Mimbre and Associate Artist at Upswing.
Rebecca is easily recognised, on and offstage: her distinctive sustainable fashion and phenomenal hairstyles brighten the British circus scene. She champions queer and black circus performers – in community and in artistic practice, integrating storytelling into movement.
Credits include: Upswing (Circus Flavours UK Tour 2021-2024, Showdown Chameleon Theatre 2024 & UK tour 2025, Bloom Bradford 2025) Mimbre (Fierce Sisters Shakespeare Birthplace Trust 2018), Cirque Bijou (Disco Inferno Bestival 2022, Silent Forest Circus Bestival 2021-2023), Extraordinary Bodies (Human UK Tour 2021-2022), Jacksons Lane (Billy Goats Gruff 2023), Revel Pucks Circus (The Ugly Duckling 2024, 2025), as well as performing at the Roundhouse and the MOBO Awards with Kojey Radical.
