Acrobatics and Street Dance Lessons for Young People Aged 13-19 Years Old

Join in the Discover Young Hackney hype by attending mimbre’s FREE acrobatics and street dance drop-in sessions at half-term. You can choose one that interests you most – or attend all three!

Tuesday the 19th February – Street Dance Workshop, 3-5 pm

Learn some street dance moves and develop your freestyling with professional dancer Frank Wilson.  Frank has worked commercially with the likes of Madonna, Wycleff and Robbie Williams, but is equally comfortable in a community setting. Performance credits include: East London Dance and White Mink’s Electro Swing Speakeasy; Into The Hoods with Zoonation; Pied Piper with Boy Blue Entertainment among many, many others.

Wednesday the 20th February – Acrobatics and Acrobalance Taster Session, 3-5 pm

Take part in an acrobatic and acrobalance workshop led by Lina Johansson the Artistic director of Mimbre. She is an experienced choreographer and director, who has been teaching acrobatics for over 10 years, and has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Young Vic and Winchester University among others.  The class will learn acrobatic moves; headstands, handstands, cartwheels and flips, as well as building human pyramids!

Thursday the 21st February – Creating Choreographies Workshop, 3-5 pm

You’ll be supported by leading professionals to learn tools and tips for creating your own choreographies. You’ll then get the chance to show off what you have created to each other at the end of the session.

The activities will take place at the Forest Road Hub Youth Centre, Forest Road, Dalston, E8 3BY.

All are welcome!

If you want to register for any of the above workshops please contact Innie on education@mimbre.co.uk or give her a call on 020 3095 9710.

And…

Mimbre is also collaborating with The London College of Fashion for the Discover Young Hackney festival, so if shaking your goose feathers isn’t for you maybe you could try creating some beautiful costumes with them to be worn for Discover Young Hackney’s launch event at the Hackney Empire.
