Classes for Young People

Mimbre offers classes for young people in Hackney to learn acrobatics and street dance in a safe, fun and supportive environment with professional artists.  Scroll down for full details!

The classes are free but you need to book a place as there are limited places! Priority is given to residents of social housing and low income families. Call or email on below contact details to book your place or to go on the waiting list.

SPRING PROGRAMME 2016

Below are details of the classes we are running in the coming term. To get a place or find out more about any of the classes please email us at education@mimbre.co.uk. Most classes are free of charge – except for our youngest group on Tuesday. Priority is given to young people from social housing or from low-income families.

Mondays : Street dance & Acrobatics
Whitmore Community Centre
11 January –  21 March
5 – 9 year olds: 4:15 – 5:45 pm
(Supported by Metropolitan Housing)

Whitmore Community Centre, 2-4 Phillipp Street, N1 5NU.

** Capacity for each class is 15 people and priority is given to Metropolitan residents, but there are some places available for other participants too.
Tuesdays: Street dance & Acrobatics
Milton Gardens Community Centre
12 January – 22 March
3-5 year olds: 4:00 – 4:45 pm
6-8  year olds: 4:45 – 5:45 pm
8 -13 year olds: 5.45 – 6:45 pm

Milton Garden Community Hall,  Chaucer Court, Shakespeare Walk, N16 8TA. The hall is at the bottom and the back of Chaucer Court, the south end of Shakespeare Walk (the one with SWAPA – Shakespeare Adventure Playground) – where it meets Howard Rd, just around the corner from Newington Green. ** Capacity for each class is 20 people and priority is given to Milton Gardens residents, but there are places available for other participants too.

Thursdays: Acrobatics
Amhurst Road/ Charterhouse Road Community Centre 
14 January – 11 February 
7-11  year olds: 5.00 – 6.30 pm
11 – 19 year olds: 6.30 – 8.00 pm (GIRLS ONLY)

If you are interested in joining our programme then please email education@mimbre.co.uk.  Also, get in touch if you would like to join our mailing list and be sent more information about our participation work.

We prioritise places for young people living in social housing, disabled young people and those who are most in need of our classes. If you have any special requirements then please let us know.

PEER FACILITATORS

Our Project Assistants work with the younger groups, supporting the Education Officer and the teachers with the running of the sessions. Get in touch to know more!
