12 Jun Mimbre hosts Lord of the Flies try-out workshop!
Last year our Mimbre Youth Company took part in RIOT OFFspring, at London’s celebrated dance space Sadler’s Wells. This unique intergenerational collaboration based on Stravinsky’s ‘The rite of Spring’, was an amazing and exciting opportunity for our young people and has marked them for life!
This year we are supporting Sadler’s Wells, in their search for 24 boys and young men aged 10 -21 to perform in Matthew Bourne’s exciting production Lord of the Flies.
On 25th June between 5-7 pm, Mimbre will host a free workshop by Shaun – one of the Lord of the Flies Ambassadors – to introduce tribal themes, character ideas and movement from the show. The ambassador will be looking out for talented young boys that are interested in taking part of the show and the workshop will give an insight into the production. Mimbre will not be involved in the final production – we are just hosting this initial workshop as we think it is a great opportunity for young boys who want to explore performance and movement further. Mimbre’s Youth Company will also take part in the taster workshop to explore the themes.
Taking part in the workshop does not require dance experience, only young people with a positive approach to creating something new!
If the ambassador is keen to invite some of the young people to a Call Back session, they will be in contact to discuss this in more detail after the workshop.
It is important to note, at this stage, that anyone selected for the final cast will be required for rehearsals 29 Sept – 11 October 2014. Sadler’s Wells have a support team in place to work with the selected boys, their schools and families and help arrange release from school, performance licenses and chaperones.
