summer tour 2012 Tag

Just as 2013 is kicking in proper I wanted to take the last chance to take a brief look back on all I achieved in 2012 - both with mimbre and together with other companies or artists. For me it was an exciting and busy year, lots that I learned and lots that I am proud of.  Working as a choreographer and director with a variety of artists and companies refreshed my perspective of how exciting our art-form can be, made me appreciate what I know and what I know really well, and helped to over again re-ignited my love of acrobatics. For you who follow this blog there has been plenty of updates on the mimbre productions last year, so here I will focus more on the collaborations with other companies in 2012. Two of the shows I worked on are currently on, so I will start with them:

We have been very busy over the summer with our latest show "Falling Up" touring across the UK and Europe as well as with our education programme culminating in a tour of our Step-Up group, the most dedicated and committed participants across all our classes for young people. We are very proud of our achievements in both our professional and our participatory projects and thank everybody who supported our work along the way.

Time really just flies - this summer's tour of "Falling Up" has already come to an end!!! The last couple of weeks were busy with our last performances at the National Theatre, the Mintfest (Kendal's International Festival of Outdoor Arts) and Pique-Nique Kerhorres - On the Bridge in Northern France...  we can't really believe yet that the summer is over! But we are very proud of Falling Up's successful tour and very happy with all the great feedback we got along the way, from audience members, producers, bookers and festival managers alike!

mimbre's youth group, the Step-Up Group, were very proud to be selected to take part in the One Hackney Festival and its colourful street parade on July 21st, celebrating the Olympic Torch arriving to our borough! In the parade the Step-Up group presented extracts of their brand new show: "Origin London" –  an action-packed performance fusing street-dance and acrobatics and celebrating the flavours and diversity that make London our home, all performed by a cast of talented young people from Hackney!

Time flies - we are now more than half-way through this summer's tour of our new show "Falling Up"! The weather hasn't always been the best and so some performances unfortunately needed to be cancelled at the last minute... but we still had a great time over the past few weeks and are very proud of Falling Up's success and reception! We got amazing feedback and lots of lovely comments from you, our various audiences - so we'd like to share some of them here with everyone! "Fantastic show - I loved its sense of fun, its simplicity and its lack of pretension, it made it really accessible for me. I am also so encouraged to see dancers who are beautiful and extraordinary in unconventional ways, so much more engaging than more conventional troupes. Loved how much the dancers were clearly enjoying themselves - made me grin the whole performance through."

Latest tour stop: Sotteville-les-Rouen, France Over the past weekend we presented "Falling Up" at "Viva Cite" in Sotteville-les-Rouen - where we had a great time despite all the rain! Viva Cite is one of the oldest street theatre festivals in Europe and attracts every year big audiences, so we are very proud to have been among the performing groups this year!
