As followers of our blog know, our talented young acrobats from the Mimbre Youth Company have been selected to take part in RIOT OFFspring, at London's  famous dance venue Sadler's Wells. RIOT OFFspring is a unique collaboration between five international choreographers – Sébastien Ramirez, Ivan Blackstock (BirdGang), Simeon Qysea (BirdGang), Mafalda Deville and Pascal Merighi (Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch) – and an intergenerational cast, brought together to create a unique dance piece with a live orchestra playing Igor Stravinsky’s iconic The Rite of Spring. How exciting!

We had a wonderful time at our first Collective Movement Festival the weekend before Easter and thank everybody, especially all our young people, the volunteers and the numerous audience members who together helped make it such a great success! Also, we'd like to thank everybody for the nice feedback and supporting our aim to raise more money over the coming months to secure the continuation of our acrobatics youth classes.

We at mimbre are so proud of our youth group, the Step Up group, who delivered a fantastic performance last Friday at Hackney Empire as part of the Discover Young Hackney Festival! VERY WELL DONE EVERYBODY!!! Below is a sneak review of the last instructions and back-stage preparations for the performance and the dress rehearsal on stage!

They spent the entire weekend working hard to create a performance for the Discover Young Hackney - Festival opening ceremony at the Hackney Empire this Friday (1st of February). The show has flips, twirls and lifts. Have a look at some of our pictures from the weekend:

Just as 2013 is kicking in proper I wanted to take the last chance to take a brief look back on all I achieved in 2012 - both with mimbre and together with other companies or artists. For me it was an exciting and busy year, lots that I learned and lots that I am proud of.  Working as a choreographer and director with a variety of artists and companies refreshed my perspective of how exciting our art-form can be, made me appreciate what I know and what I know really well, and helped to over again re-ignited my love of acrobatics. For you who follow this blog there has been plenty of updates on the mimbre productions last year, so here I will focus more on the collaborations with other companies in 2012. Two of the shows I worked on are currently on, so I will start with them:
