06 Nov Mimbre Youth Online Autumn Term
Acrobatics and street dance classes continuing our autumn term online
As you might have gathered, we sadly cannot go ahead with our in-person classes at the moment. So we are switching to online again, running five online workshops on Tuesdays from 10th November – 8th December.
We are excited to slightly spice up the concept for the online classes, following feedback from the young people.
Each session is 90 minutes long and is aimed at 8-13 year olds. The longer class time gives us space for more social interactions such as chatting, questions and games, as well as dance techniques, a new routine, and acrobatics focusing on headstands, handstands, freezes and quirky moves which are safe in small spaces.
In each class we will be sharing a video of an inspiring dance and circus performance, and using that as a starting point for the young people to create some choreographies and material on their own, to be shared with each other at the end of each class.
Younger Mimbre youth kids who are keen can join if parents can give a bit more proactive support through the class.

Other Resources
For those of you who find the times or live access difficult, we’d like to remind you about the online resources we built during the spring lockdown, with 36 dance and acrobatic videos available on Mimbre Youth YouTube channel.
Did you see Mimbre’s The Sofa Dance over the summer? Here is a template for how you could create your own family #MySofaDance, with links to other inspiring versions: https://mimbre.co.uk/create-your-own-choreography-inspired-by-the-sofa-dance/
Frustrated about being stuck at home again? See our little photo series of how frustrated our acrobats felt last spring #AcrobatStuckAtHome. Be very careful if you try your own version, make sure your young one is supervised, the risk of getting stuck is real! https://mimbre.co.uk/acrobat-stuck-at-home/
And finally here is the resource package we pulled together in the spring, with various online activities and inspirations. We’re not sure all are still active but a fair amount would still be there: https://mimbre.co.uk/youth-families-resources-covid-19/
How to support our classes
Donations
In recognition that everyone’s circumstances are even more different than before, we will go ahead with these classes on a pay-what-you-can donation basis. The classes are free and available to everyone, but if you do enjoy them and you are able to pay we would really appreciate donations towards us paying the teachers!
For people who still have a job and an income, we would really appreciate weekly donations towards paying our teachers, but for people struggling with money at the moment, then pay-what-you-can might be nothing and that’s ok too. Pay what you can according to your circumstances! Whether that’s nothing, 50p, £5 or more to support others’ participation. Thank you to those who have already so kindly donated!
We just want to see everyone again and provide what we can in terms of some physical and creative activity to all stay healthy both in mind and bodies.
Other ways to help us
You can also support us by generating donations when you shop online for gifts and more via @GiveasyouLive Online. So, if you are shopping online this Festive Season, please support independent businesses, and use Give As You Live to help us out at the same time, (fundraising for Mimbre with no extra cost to you).
